Winter Solstice Service

The Solstice is the time of the longest night of the year. Up until now, the days have been getting steadily shorter, but now they begin to lengthen again. We celebrate this as a sign from Nature that although the coldest part of the winter still lies ahead, the Sun will return with the promise of Spring, the promise of new life and growth! Because of this, the Winter Solstice is a celebration of hope. The turning of the seasons becomes something more, a story of the never-ending battle between light and darkness, joy and sorrow, rest and action—the sorts of opposites that are necessary for a rich life and have to exist in equilibrium.

We will celebrate all these ideas in a circle inside the church Atrium with songs, stories, and ritual. If this sounds appealing to you, you are welcome to join us! Bright blessings!

We will follow all Covid protocols in place for indoor worship and other events, including wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth.
