UU Lansing Archives on the Move
By Ed Busch
The UU Lansing Archives is on the move! With the upcoming construction for the Refugee Development Center grant (starting December 1), everything stored in the building's West Wing needs to be relocated offsite for 6-8 months once construction begins. I’ve decided to move the processed archive boxes to my basement, so I can still access important materials during this time.
The good news? The current draft of construction plans for the building include space for a dedicated archives room! Early on, I provided input on the amount of space we’d need, and I’m hopeful it will accommodate the current collection — with a little room for growth.
As I unload boxes from my minivan, I’m doing my best to organize them in my space. Frequently accessed items, like newsletters, reports, and Board minutes, are being placed in the most convenient spots. Meanwhile, some unprocessed materials — especially those from our retired Director of Religious Education, Teresa Putnam — will be stored temporarily in one of the church garages.
Next week, I hope to share a post about Halloween traditions at UU Lansing. Stay tuned! Email me at uucgl.archives@gmail.com for questions, suggestions, etc.
