Community Partners

The RDC is an essential nonprofit organization established in 2002, dedicated to providing critical services for refugees in mid-Michigan. Through formal and informal learning opportunities, the Center strives to be an open and inclusive place where refugees can learn and access the resources needed to thrive as residents and citizens.

We encourage you to learn more about their impactful work and explore how you can contribute. The path for refugees is fraught with challenges, but with the RDC's guidance and the robust support of our community, we can unlock limitless possibilities for all our neighbors.

We are honored to support South Side Community Kitchens's vital mission of cooking and serving nutritious lunches to anyone in need. Without prerequisites or questions asked, our doors open wide to welcome all who seek a meal. At the heart of this operation is the talented Corey Marie, a dedicated UU Lansing member, alongside an exceptional team of volunteers and staff. Together, they transform whole, fresh ingredients into meals crafted with love and care for all.

Our beautiful Social Hall becomes a place of community and warmth on most Mondays and Wednesdays, starting at 11:30 a.m., where guests are invited to sit, relax, and enjoy a meal. You can find SCK Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Galilee Baptist Church, located at 2511 Reo Road, Lansing, MI 48911, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

We invite you to join us in this mission, whether as a guest in need of a meal or as a volunteer eager to make a difference. Together, we can continue to offer a sanctuary of nourishment and a shared table that welcomes everyone.

From our parking lot, the Share-A-Bike program, a beacon of community service and sustainability, operates with dedication. Initiated in 1994, this volunteer-powered project aligns with our commitment to social justice, providing refurbished bicycles to those in need through a thoughtful process that ensures a perfect fit for every recipient. Operating on Saturdays, Share-A-Bike invites individuals to bring a letter of need to receive a bicycle, fostering mobility and independence in our community. As a congregation, we're proud to support this initiative, echoing our values of compassion and shared responsibility.

We are open every  Saturday morning, 9 to 11 a.m., April-October, and during winter months, 9 to 11 a.m. on the 2nd Saturday of the month from (November-March) We are closed on Saturdays of the holiday weekends of Memorial and Labor Day and the Saturday celebrated with the 4th of July.

Their program depends on donations from the community. Your donated bicycle will be inspected, repaired and put in stock to be given away. A cash donation will go a long way to help buy helmets or parts. We will happily accept your donations on the Saturdays we are open.

LanSINGout Chorus, a cherished ensemble within our Sanctuary, brings both harmony and healing through their performances. As a not-for-profit community chorus, LanSINGout offers LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies a vibrant platform to express and unite through song. Dedicated to musical excellence, their performances are more than just concerts—they are a powerful medium for fostering fellowship and enriching the lives of both the singers and the wider community. We are proud to host such an inspiring group, whose melodies resonate with welcoming and transformative energy.

Citizens for Prison Reform

We proudly collaborate with Citizens for Prison Reform (CPR), a grassroots, family-led organization committed to making a significant impact in the lives of families and individuals affected by the criminal justice system. CPR's mission is to engage, educate, and empower those impacted by crime and punishment, advocating for their constitutional, civil, and human rights. Through education and advocacy, CPR works diligently to uphold the dignity and justice for all involved, reflecting our shared values of justice and community support.

Our Community Gardens use compost from SCK lunches to provide fresh food for congregants and neighbors; our native plant gardens developed with the help of the Michigan Audubon Society and Wild Ones, Red Cedar Chapter provide habitat and nourishment for wildlife, and our recreational areas offer space for people of all ages and abilities to gather and play outside.

We welcome an eclectic range of community-building groups such as community choirs, a marionette puppet studio, the Lansing Table Tennis Club on most Tuesday evenings, and the occasional Friendship Force meeting.
