Child Dedication ceremonies may be held in worship at any time of year, though we hold them most often at Christmastime. In these brief ceremonies, we present babies or children who are new to the church to the congregation. Together, we welcome the child into our community, promise to support the child’s growth and faith development at our church, and present the child with a rose that has had its thorns removed.
The symbolic gift of a rose is echoed later in our children’s lives, when graduates of our high school Religious Education program are presented with a pair of gardening gloves and a rose with its thorns intact.
If you are a member of our congregation who would like to arrange a Dedication for your child, please contact Teresa Putnam, Director of Lifespan Faith Development.
