The Service Auction is our largest fundraiser benefiting our church operating budget, and it is also how many of us get to know one another through mutual enjoyment of meals, parties, learning experiences, and sharing of our skills and talents. Last year, we raised over $12,000, thanks to generous donors and bidders.

APRIL COVID-19 UPDATE:

As you know, it is challenging to plan in the face of so much uncertainty.  Here are some of the major points – and we want to get feedback from anyone who has more ideas or other feedback (auction.uucgl@gmail.com).  We are contacting current donors for their input and possible changes as more information is available.  Looking forward, we plan to take into account differing financial situations during this period and may have a “suggested donation amounts” for events so that those who can will donate (maybe extra) and those who can’t will still be able to participate.  The main priority is to help people to stay connected and have fun. 

  • All previously-planned events scheduled for late April and all of May will be rescheduled, revised, or cancelled with donor input.
  • We are seeking new “pandemic-friendly” events that could provide social contact and fun, e.g. Zoom Bingo, Happy Hour Zooms, or baked goods to be dropped off or picked up (with no physical contact, but when driving to another house is permitted). SEND US YOUR IDEAS!
  • We are looking into opportunistic “rolling event auctions” for some summer events (contingent on pandemic decisions for gatherings and input from donors).  For example, if gatherings are permitted in July, there may be an event scheduled for July or August that congregants can sign up for. That information would be communicated through the email weekly news bulletin and congregants could sign up via email. 
  • Time will tell if we can have an in-person auction in the fall, especially to auction off non-time sensitive items (e.g. services, arts and handcraft goods) and events scheduled later in the year.
